Overview
About UGV / Ground Robot Platform (custom).
The BotBit UGV / Ground Robot Platform is a custom-built unmanned ground vehicle configured around a specific ground mission rather than sold as a fixed model. A UGV operates on land without an onboard crew, driving via wheels or tracks and controlled by teleoperation, by onboard autonomy, or by a blend of the two. Because the platform is scoped to your task, drivetrain, chassis size, payload capacity, sensors and control mode are all selected against the terrain you cross, the load you carry and the level of autonomy you need - from a simple remote-driven inspection rover to a self-navigating logistics or monitoring platform.
Each build integrates a sensing and autonomy stack (cameras, LiDAR, IMU and GNSS with SLAM, path planning and control) matched to your environment, plus a robust command-and-control link for teleoperation and an autonomy layer for waypoint or patrol missions where required. Wheeled chassis suit hard, mixed surfaces and offer efficiency and low maintenance; tracked chassis give traction and low ground pressure on soft, loose or broken terrain. Modular payload bays accept EO/IR and thermal cameras, LiDAR, manipulator arms, sprayers, cargo modules or task-specific tooling, so one base platform can serve inspection, logistics, security or research roles.
It is built for industrial inspection teams, logistics and intralogistics operators, security and public-safety agencies, agriculture and infrastructure programmes, and research institutions that need a supportable, reconfigurable ground robot rather than a one-off prototype. We scope payload, terrain, range, endurance and autonomy up front, then deliver a platform you can operate and maintain. As a quote/RFQ product, price and lead time follow the agreed specification. Ground robots fall outside DGCA airspace rules, but any UAV you pair with the UGV, and any radio/comms and site-safety obligations, still apply - we advise on lawful deployment in India.
Key features

- Industrial and facility inspection - plants, warehouses, tunnels and hazardous or confined areas
- Logistics and intralogistics - autonomous material transport across yards, sites and campuses
- Security and observation patrols with 24/7 camera and thermal monitoring of fixed sites
- Agriculture and land management - scouting, spraying and monitoring over fields and orchards
- Public-safety and hazardous-environment tasks such as remote inspection and sensor deployment
- Research, mapping and air-ground teaming programmes pairing the UGV with UAV platforms
Buying guide
How to choose.
Begin your RFQ with the ground mission. Tell us the primary task (inspection, logistics transport, security patrol, spraying, research), the payload you must carry (weight and type - camera, LiDAR, manipulator, cargo), the terrain you operate over (warehouse floor, gravel yard, farmland, rubble, sand or slopes), and the range and run-time you expect per shift. Terrain and payload are what determine whether a wheeled or tracked chassis and what drivetrain size we specify.
Tell us how you intend to control it. If a human drives it remotely, we focus on a robust low-latency command link and clear situational-awareness video; if you need it to navigate on its own, we scope the autonomy stack - LiDAR/camera SLAM, path planning and waypoint or patrol behaviour. Also share environment factors (dust, water, temperature, indoor/outdoor), fleet size, integration with existing systems, and any safety or standards requirements for your site.
Ground robots sit outside DGCA airspace regulation, so there is no UIN or Remote Pilot Certificate for the UGV itself. However, any UAV you pair with it, the radio spectrum your comms use, and your site health-and-safety obligations still apply. We help you plan a lawful, supportable deployment in India and, for air-ground teaming, align the paired UAV to DGCA Drone Rules 2021.
FAQ
Common questions.
What is a UGV?
An Unmanned Ground Vehicle - a land robot that operates without an onboard crew, driving on wheels or tracks. It is controlled by teleoperation, by onboard autonomy, or a mix of both, and carries mission payloads such as cameras, LiDAR, manipulator arms or cargo to perform inspection, logistics, security or research tasks.
Why is it quote-based?
A UGV built for warehouse logistics differs completely from one built for rough-terrain inspection or security patrol. Drivetrain, chassis, payload capacity, sensors and autonomy level are all configured against your task and terrain, so we quote per configuration rather than list a fixed price. Send your requirements for a scoped quotation.
Wheeled or tracked - which should I choose?
It depends on terrain. Wheeled chassis are efficient, faster and lower-maintenance on hard or mixed surfaces; tracked chassis give better traction and spread weight with low ground pressure on soft, loose, snowy or broken ground. Tell us where the robot operates and we'll recommend and size the right drivetrain.
Can it run fully autonomously?
Yes, it can be configured for teleoperated, semi-autonomous or fully autonomous operation. Autonomous builds use a LiDAR/camera SLAM stack with path planning for waypoint navigation or patrol routes. Many operators start teleoperated and add autonomy as the deployment matures - we scope the control mode to your operating model.
Does a UGV need DGCA approval in India?
No. DGCA drone rules govern airspace and unmanned aircraft, not ground vehicles, so a UGV needs no UIN or Remote Pilot Certificate. Your radio/comms spectrum use and site health-and-safety obligations still apply, and if you pair the UGV with a UAV, that aircraft must comply with DGCA Drone Rules 2021.
What payloads can it carry?
Modular bays accept EO/IR and thermal cameras, LiDAR, manipulator arms, sprayers, cargo modules or task-specific tooling. We size chassis, drivetrain and power to your payload weight, terrain and run-time target during scoping, so the platform is matched to the load rather than the load forced onto a fixed frame.
