How to choose.

Pick the Nano 20A when building a 5-inch racer or freestyle quad with motors that stay under 20A continuous, typically 2204-2306 class on 3-4S. If your motor and prop combination peaks much higher, choose a 30A or 40A ESC instead so the controller has thermal headroom for sustained full-throttle racing.

This is a single ESC, so you will need four for a quadcopter and should mount them on the arms with the twisted signal pairs routed cleanly to the flight controller. The opto design rejects noise well, but keep signal wires away from high-current paths to maintain reliable throttle control.

Confirm the protocol you need. The Nano 20A runs BLHeli with OneShot125, which is excellent for analog-fast control but is not the newer DShot digital standard. If you specifically want DShot and telemetry, look at EMAX's BLHeli_S Bullet series or a comparable DShot-capable ESC; for proven, lightweight BLHeli racing it remains a great value in India.

What is active braking and why does it matter?

Active braking, also called damped light, makes the motor decelerate quickly when you reduce throttle rather than coasting. On a racing quad this gives sharper, more controllable handling, especially through tight corners and rapid direction changes, improving overall flight precision.

Does this ESC have a BEC?

The Nano series uses an opto-style design and does not provide a power BEC for your electronics. You will need a separate BEC or a flight controller and PDB that regulate 5V power from the main battery to run your receiver and accessories.
