Overview

About Hiwonder xArm 1S Intelligent Bus-Servo Robotic Arm (Programmable, Unassembled).

The Hiwonder xArm 1S is a premium 6-DOF aluminium desktop robotic arm built on intelligent serial bus servos rather than ordinary PWM servos. Each bus servo reports live position, voltage and temperature feedback and daisy-chains on a single bus, giving cleaner wiring and far more precise, repeatable control than a hobby-servo arm.

The base joint uses an upgraded high-torque servo so the arm can grasp objects heavier than 500g, and its onboard controller with Bluetooth and 16 MB of memory can store large action groups, up to 1020 actions per group, for complex playback sequences. It is controlled from PC software, a mobile app, mouse teaching or a wireless handle, so you can teach poses and replay them.

For serious Indian learners, colleges and product prototypers, the xArm 1S is the step from toy-grade arms to a genuine programmable manipulator. It ships unassembled so you learn the mechanics, then unlocks graphical, Scratch and Python programming with real-time servo feedback.

Buying guide

How to choose.

Buy the xArm 1S if you want a genuine, feedback-capable robotic arm rather than a hobby-servo toy, and you value repeatable precision and rich software. It suits serious students, colleges, research labs and prototypers ready to invest in a quality platform.

Choose it over a generic MG996R arm when position/voltage/temperature feedback, single-bus wiring and teach-and-replay programming matter to you; that feedback and the software ecosystem are exactly what the premium buys. If you only need a basic arm to learn PWM, a cheaper acrylic or aluminium kit is enough.

Pair it with the recommended 7.5V 6A power supply, a Windows PC for the full desktop software, and optionally the Hiwonder wireless handle. Keep firmware and the app updated to access the latest programming features.

FAQ

Common questions.

How is it different from an MG996R robotic arm?

It uses intelligent serial bus servos that report position, voltage and temperature and connect on one bus, giving precise, repeatable, teach-and-replay control. Ordinary PWM servos like the MG996R have no feedback and need one signal wire each.

Does it come assembled?

No, it ships unassembled. You build the aluminium arm yourself, which is part of the learning experience, then connect the bus servos and controller.

What power supply does it need?

It requires a 7.5V 6A DC power supply. Using an underrated supply will cause the servos to reset or behave erratically under load.

How do I program it?

You can control it from Hiwonder's PC software, a mobile app, mouse teaching or a wireless handle, and program it with graphical blocks, Scratch and Python. It can store large action groups for playback.

How heavy an object can it pick up?

Thanks to the upgraded high-torque base servo, the arm can grasp objects weighing more than 500 g, more than typical hobby-servo desktop arms.

Is it available and supported in India?

Yes. The xArm 1S is stocked by Indian robotics retailers such as Robocraze, and Hiwonder provides online documentation, software and tutorials.
